08 Feb #ShareTheLove Letter by Jess D.
Dear every woman entrepreneur,
It doesn’t matter you’re bricks & mortar or ecommerce. If you’re stepping through the door on your first day or struggling to scale because you have so many customers you just can’t keep up. It doesn’t even matter if you’re waiting for that first client, wondering if you can legitimately call yourself a business yet.
There will be face plants falling from your stilettos (may or may not be a metaphor) & feet lodged permanently in your mouth. It will humble you.
But there will also be joy. True camaraderie from fellow entrepreneurs who know the hustle. There will be triumphs. And nothing beats the sense of accomplishment when this thing you created makes a difference (no matter how small) to someone else. Don’t suffer needlessly for your business or let it turn you into a martyr. Pursue your business with gratitude & stubborn gladness.
It will teach you more about yourself than you realize. I’ve learned I’m not good at giving up. I’ve learned I’m more capable than I ever thought possible. I’ve learned I want this so much that even when I’m exhausted, disheartened & terrified I’m going to show up & do the work anyway.
I still get butterflies every time I hit publish or send a deliverable to a client. But I keep moving forward with faith. Learning to trust myself, my process & the universe a little more each day.
To every entrepreneur, at any stage of business who gets up & makes it happen every damn day. It won’t always be easy, but I promise it WILL be worth it.
Love, Jess D.
